Convert WebP to JPG for Universal Compatibility
WebP is a modern image format that compresses 25–35% better than JPG — which is great for the web, but inconvenient when you’re trying to open the file in Photoshop, upload to a legacy system, attach to an email, or share on a platform that only accepts JPG. This free browser-based converter turns your WebP files into JPG using the mozjpeg encoder, with no upload and no waiting.
Why Convert WebP to JPG?
- Legacy software support — older versions of Photoshop, GIMP, Windows Photo Viewer, and many professional tools don’t read WebP natively.
- Print services & print shops — most print workflows still expect JPG or TIFF, not WebP.
- Email & document attachments — many email clients and form uploaders reject WebP files outright.
- Social media platforms — some networks still have spotty WebP support, especially for profile pictures and ads.
How It Works
Your browser decodes the WebP file natively (all modern browsers support WebP since 2020), then the tool re-encodes the pixels as JPG using mozjpeg — the same high-quality encoder used by major CDNs and image optimization services. You can batch-convert multiple files at once and download everything as a single ZIP.
What to Expect
JPG does not support transparency. Any transparent or semi-transparent areas in your WebP will be flattened against white before encoding. If your source has transparency that matters, use WebP to PNG instead to keep the alpha channel intact.
The JPG output will usually be 20–40% larger than the WebP source because WebP compresses more efficiently, but you gain universal compatibility in exchange. At 90% quality, the output is visually indistinguishable from the source on any display.
Truly Private
Everything runs in your browser using WebAssembly. Your WebP files never leave your device. Safe for confidential graphics, watermarked images, and anything else you want to keep off third-party servers.
